Beth Hide, CRNP  


Beth has been a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner since 1985.  Her practice has always been in women's healthcare and has included IVF/Infertility care, Gynecologic healthcare maintenance and Obstetrics.  Beth is certified as a Nurse Practitioner and in Reproductive and Endocrinology nursing.  She is also a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and certified grief counselor.  Beth's goal is to practice in the provision of comprehensive and compassionate care of infertile people.

Patsy Watson, CRNP

Patsy Watson has been a Nurse Practitioner with the ART Program since 1989.  After graduating from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and several years of hospital nursing and community health nursing, Patsy returned to school and graduated from UAB's Master of Science Nursing Program and became certified as a Nurse Practitioner in 1987.

Patsy is a member of the American Nurses Association, Alabama Practitioner Council, and National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health.  Patsy assists the physicians and provides services to our patients in a Nurse Practitioner capacity.

Kathy Hudspeth, CRNP

Kathy received her BS in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1980 and went on to receive her Masters in Nursing at UAB in 1985. She has been a Certified Nurse Practitioner in OB/GYN since 1986. Kathy worked for the ART Program from 1986-1990 and then worked in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Department at UAB taking care of high-risk obstetrical patients. Kathy returned to the ART Program in 2003 where she assists the physicians in providing services to our infertility and IVF patients.

Nancy Scott, CRNP

Nancy has been in the field of nursing for 21 years.  She received an Associate's Degree from Columbia Community College in Columbia TN in 1980.  She received her BSN in 1985 and a Master's Degree in 1995 from the University of Alabama-Huntsville.  She is a Family Nurse Practitioner with certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Nancy has been with the ART Program since 1995 and is the primary CRNP in our Huntsville office.  Prior to joining the ART Program, Nancy worked in medical and surgical units, CCU, emergency room and management and training.

Nancy is a member of the American Nurses Association, American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Alabama Nurse Practitioners.  She completed her  certification in OB/GYN ultrasound and is a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.  Nancy is an American Heart Association CPR Instructor.

Sarah Shoemaker, CRNP

Sarah is the primary Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in our Montgomery office.  She has received extensive infertility training at our Birmingham clinic.  Sarah graduated from UAB in 1978 with a BSN degree and continued studies at UAB becoming a CRNP.  Sarah also received an MPH degree from UAB in 1993 with a concentration in maternal and child health.  Sarah's past work experience has included working at the State of Alabama Department of Public Health in women's healthcare.

Dianne Howell, CNRP

Ms. Howell joined the ART Fertility Program in June 2006 and leads the team in our Tuscaloosa office and provides care to couples in the Tuscaloosa, Northport and surrounding areas. She received extensive infertility training at our Birmingham clinic. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a BSN degree in 1986 and continued studies and graduated from UAB with a Master’s degree in 1995. Dianne was a women’s health Nurse Practitioner at UAB since 1996 providing obstetrical and gynecological care to patients. 



Deborah Merryman, M.Sc., T.S., E.L.D. (ABB)


Ms. Merryman, Embryology Laboratory Director of the ART Program of Alabama, began her career in the field of reproductive medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 1981. While at UAB, her experience included both reproductive research and clinical application of IVF. In 1986, Ms. Merryman joined Dr. Kathryn Honea as an Embryologist and helped establish the ART Program, formerly known as IVF Australia.

Ms. Merryman studied IVF at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia in 1986. She received her BS degree in Natural Science and Mathematics in 1993. In 2002, she received her Masterís degree in Clinical Embryology from the University of Leeds in Leeds, England, graduating with distinction. From April 1990 to January 2004, she served as the Technical Supervisor of the ART Program of Alabama and was promoted to Embryology Laboratory Director after certification by the American Board of Bioanalysts.

She was appointed to a four-year term as officer for the Reproductive Laboratory Technologist Professional Group of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine from 1991 to 1995. She is also certified as a Technical Supervisor in the areas of Andrology and Embryology by the American Board of Bioanalysts.

With over 20 years of experience in the area of reproductive medicine and together with an excellent team of laboratory personnel, Ms. Merryman provides state-of-the-art laboratory services to infertility and IVF patients at the ART Program of Alabama.
