We are pleased that you would like to learn more about the ART Fertility Program of Alabama. It is a unique and successful program that has much to offer couples facing infertility. We bring new hope to married couples unable to conceive because of infertility. The Program offers individualized, comprehensive treatment by a caring and dedicated staff to help you through the stress of infertility and towards a successful outcome.

Our team has provided the medical, psychological and technical services of in vitro fertilization (IVF) for two decades. We have over 1,200 babies born through IVF, and many thousands more with other assisted reproductive technologies.

For patients who do not live in the Birmingham or surrounding areas, we have developed a system that works with your local gynecologist to minimize your time away from home and work, as well as offices in Huntsville and Montgomery.

A wide range of
infertility services are offered, such as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis   (PGD), Testicular Epididymal Sperm Aspiration (TESA), Ovulation Induction with Intrauterine Insemination and Egg or Sperm Donation. We use sophisticated diagnostic procedures such as vaginal ultrasound monitoring of ovulation, sperm antibody evaluation, sperm penetration assays and autoimmune antibody testing to identify problems with egg and sperm production.

The ART Fertility Program of Alabama is led by Dr. Kathryn Honea, Dr. Virginia Houserman and Dr. Cecil Long, who are Board Certified specialists in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. They are skilled in comprehensive infertility care, including laser laparoscopy, microsurgery and non-surgical IVF procedures. They work with a skilled support team of nurse practitioners, nurses, embryology and andrology technologists and medical laboratory technologists.

Our team brings many years of experience providing care to infertile couples. Since 1986, our Program has been an approved member of the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) within the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).

We provide referrals to trained psychologists, counselors and support groups to assist you in preparing as a couple to deal with the emotional pressures sometimes encountered while undergoing treatment for infertility.
